Student Organization Information

With over 300 recognized student organizations, Syracuse University offers a wide variety of involvement opportunities. Our office includes staff experienced and ready to get you involved and nurture your talents that make you who you are, and direct you to where you want to go. We provide consultation, resources, and a safe environment for open and inclusive conversation. Most importantly, it is our responsibility to take learning beyond the classroom and encourage growth with activism, advocacy, leadership, team-building, and community awareness.

The Office of Student Activities produce Orange Pride events such as Homecoming, Winter Carnival, National Orange Day and Senior Celebration.  We also coordinates Orange After Dark and the Student Leadership Institute (SLI).  SLI was created to cultivate and support those students interested in motivating and leading others while at Syracuse University and beyond. The program will comprise of an annual retreat, programming, community service, one-on-one mentoring, and the opportunity to enhance academic accomplishments.

Re-registration information

Below is a brief overview of the entire process

1. Orgsync: Renew your organization profile, Below are detailed steps on how to do that if you are unsure.

  • From your OrgSync Profile, click on the "ORGANIZATION SETTINGS" button under the "SETTINGS" title on the right navigation bar. Click “UPDATE PROFILE”. You must fill in all portions of this form.
  • You will be prompted to upload a current organization constitution, so have an updated version ready, complete with new dates and any changes. If you need help editing your constitution, please reference the Constitution Writing Guide.
  • You will next see an input for Organization Faculty/Staff Advisor. An advisor contract will automatically be sent to your advisor for electronic signature. It is your responsibility to ensure your advisor submits this form. Before they submit, make sure your advisor has an Orgsync account and agrees to serve as your advisor.
  • You must update your officers' titles separately in your org's profile. In Your Organization’s OrgSync Portal – Go to People → Click on All → Click on Specific Person – Add Titles to appropriate people and place them in the appropriate Account Group -- Submit. Be sure to change the status of your alumni, and give next year's presidents administrative access as well.

2. Advisor contract – This gets automatically e-mailed to your advisor when you update your Orgsync profile.

3. The Hot Spot – can be found here. You must get 100% correct on all four quizzes to get credit.

4. Workshop - (PLEASE NOTE SOME LOCATIONS HAVE CHANGED) - The President and one officer are required to attend one workshop. We encourage these to be two separate workshops, but you both can get credit for attending the same one.

August 30: Using Communication as a Leadership Tool (12:00 pm – 1:00 pm, Hall of Languages 500)

September 1: Problem Solving (5:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Hall of Languages 102)

September 3: Fall Kick Off (11:00 am – 2:00 pm, Hall of Languages 500)

September 7: Conflict Management (12:00 pm – 1:00 pm, Ernie Davis 202)

September 8: Problem Solving (5:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Hall of Languages 421)

September 9: Constitution Writing (12:00 pm – 1:00 pm, Hall of Languages 102)

September 12: Values Exploration (4:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Hall of Languages 201)

September 14: Leaving Your Mark (5:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Watson 147)

September 16: Finding your Leadership Style (4:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Hall of Languages 201)

  • Organizations are encouraged to update their Constitution. As an incentive, we will take away the one officer workshop requirement to any organization who does so. E-mail Mary Holland at mholland@syr.edu for more details.
