Winter Carnival

Winter Carnival is a tradition that dates back to 1930, Winter Carnival offers outdoor and indoor activities, including human dog sled races, ice-carvings, chili cook-offs, snow sculptures, and other events that coincide with Syracuse Winterfest.


2019 Winter Carnival Schedule of Events

Tuesday, Feb. 19

Hot Chocolate on the Quad 9am-11am, Free while supplies last!

Winter Carnival Dinner, starting 4:30pm, Featured in Brockway, Graham, Ernie Davis, Shaw, Sadler and Goldstein Dining. Menu will include a never-ending soup menu, fresh breads and butters, and a hot cocoa station!

Trivia Night sponsored by Traditions Commission, 8pm, Schine Underground, FREE! Get your team of 2-4 people together to win great prizes and eat snacks!

Wednesday, Feb. 20

Winter Carnival Days, 11am-2pm, Schine Atrium.  Giveaways, free stuff, food and fun!  

Men’s Basketball Game vs. Louisville, 7pm, Carrier Dome. Tickets available at cuse.com.  

Thursday, Feb. 21

Chili cook off, 11am until it’s gone!  HBC Patio.  FREE CHILI TASTING! Submit your recipe by clicking here!

Winter Carnival Days, 11am-2pm, Schine Atrium.  Giveaways, free stuff, food and fun!  (not sure on timing based on when the cook off will end)

Cozy Cappella, presented by the A Cappella Council, 8:30pm, Schine Goldstein Auditorium, free tickets available at Schine Box Office.  Free hot chocolate and cookies.

Friday, Feb. 22

Plant Night! Sponsored by Traditions Commission, 8pm, Goldstein Auditorium. Make and take your own terrarium! $2 tickets available at Schine Box Office.

Traditions Commission and Orange After Dark present: Glow in the Dark Late Night Skate Night, 9:30pm-midnight, Tennity Ice Pavilion on South Campus, free skate rental and entry, hot chocolate, and giveaways

Saturday, Feb. 23

Traditions Commission and Orange After Dark present: Laser Tag, 8pm-12am, Goldstein Auditorium, FREE! Play a few rounds of Laser Tag and grab free food (while supplies last), watch a movie and the SU vs. Duke game (time pending) in the 304s while you wait.
